Clam Chowder

After clams are picked out, fry six rashers of pork, and cut up two onions.  Put in some clams, the some onions and pepper; pare and slice potatoes, and put a layer of them, and then some of the pork, and some hard crackers split. Then more clams, and so on, until all is in, shaking in flour each time. Then put in the clam water, and you will have a delicious chowder.
