Ornaments and Smalls

Welcome to the Countdown to Christmas Day 12. This cross-stitched ornament was a thrift shop find.

The following are this year's thrift shop rescues in holiday ornaments.
This 1996 Enesco is called Holiday Dreams of Green.
Snowmobile Santa was a 49 cent thrift shop find this month. He earned the Vintage prize because he is dated 1984.

I had no idea this Thread Bear ornament was so detailed, complete with fur and moving head, arms, and legs. Another Hallmark Keepsake Ornament from 2002.

I can't remember when I obtained these beaded small angels. The Howard Holt candle holders seem pleased they have joined the clan.

Here is the raffle gift basket in all of its glory! Included in it is my Catsville quilt. Bidding in the online auction is only allowed by Department personnel.

Me proudly displaying the creation.

Bing & Grondahl plate of the day is from 1961.

What I am listening to - Fresh Batch, Jazz Treats for the Holidays, Volume Two

Speaking of treats, adding in another recipe from the Ford Times Cookbook (1968).

BISHOP'S LODGE LACY COOKIES

2 cups butter
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs, separated
1 tsp baking powder
2-1/2 cups oatmeal, regular uncooked
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup walnuts, chopped

Cream butter, add both kinds of sugar and whip. Stir in egg yolks. Mix baking powder and oatmeal together and add to the mixture. Stir in vanilla and fold in nuts. Beat egg whites to form a stiff peak and fold into the batter. Drop by teaspoonfuls 3 inches apart on greased cookie sheet and bake approx. 8 minutes in 300 degree oven. Yields 3 dozen.
