Blogspat and Mighty Minion ready to spring into action

Now is the calm before the storm when the A to Z Challenge participants are scheduling their blog posts.  A to Z is the mutha of all blog challenges.  There are over 1,000 bloggers participating this year.  Some bloggers revealed their topic, and a couple of those caught my eye - a foul-mouthed Scottish gal  A Daft Scots Lass  who will post on All Things Scots and a Hungarian blogger  The Multi Colored Diary  who is focusing on weird princesses.  My focus will be All Things Thrifting. As a Madlab Mighty Minion for the challenge, I will be visiting chosen participants to ensure they are following the rules. On the subject of rules , I must admit I was involved in a blogspat last month.  I have a habit of combining blog challenges and hops and this one hop host (who shall remain unnamed) took issue with my technique.  Granted it was with a group of romance writers, of which I am not, but thinking they might want to expand their audience beyond that realm - how could it hurt?  W

Ninja Captain Alex's Top Ten Movie Countdown Blogfest

No. 1:  One of my enduring favorites is Die Hard with Bruce Willis.  Hope the new movie coming out, A Good Day to Die Hard , will be as much of a romp as the original. No. 2:  Off in the quirky realm would be the movie Kinky Boots - I think it is movie with heart and soul. Pictured: Lola (Chiwetel Ejiofor), Lauren (Sarah Jane Potts), Mel (Linda Bassett), George (Ewan Hooper), Pat (Mona Hammond), Don (Nick Frost), Jeanie (Kellie Bright) and Big Mike (Stephen Marcus) in Julian Jarrold's 'Kinky Boots' No. 3:  For drama and heartbreak, I recommend Sin Nombre. No. 4:  Kind of an off-the-wall black and white classic Katherine Hepburn is The Rainmaker  (1956) with her playing opposite Burt Lancaster. No. 5:  I so loved musicals as a kid, so I have to dig in history's past for this gem (and animated nonetheless) 1955s  Lady and the Tramp. Stacks of books and Mounds of Fabric

That is how tall the stack is of books I have recently listed on eBay. Only one more round of books to go before the  September push to list Christmas CDs. Found a wood CD rack at thrift for $15.99, with the ones populating the rack already listed. Before I started listing, I began deleting the non-starters, Big Band and Perry Como type stuff.  September is my prompt to start preparing my Countdown to Christmas posts. I have photographed my new round of 25 CDs I have found at thrift for my daily "What I am listening to," sections. Also,  I have added to my Christmas tree pin forest, and completed a Mary Engelbreit-bordered Christmas quilt.  On the thrifting front: It never hurts to ask if price can be negotiated. The sewing patterns were priced widely at hospice thrift from 49 cents to $2.99. I asked if I could purchase them all at one price and the cashier said, "How about $10 for the lot?" I said, "Yes!" Welcome to the Ranch

With a focus on things not entirely but very nearly Western.  My take on the wearing of the coral squash blossom necklace (a recent retail splurge) is it pairs nicely with the Mr. Bill Ohhhh Nooo graphic T-shirt. The Harley Davidson Western hat is one of my fav second-hand finds.  https://www.ebay.com/itm/185006359062 My return to office is scheduled for Mondays and Tuesdays beginning January 1.  What I want to see most on my return are the new murals recently painted for the  Wide Open Walls  event during September. The Sacramento Mural Festival began in 2019 to enliven alleyways and buildings throughout the city. At my previous department, we had a building-long view of Johnny Cash. We finally had rain, not what was needed but enough to revel in it. A overcast day meant cooler temperatures and I was able to bake the longed-for traditional New York cheesecake with a chocolate graham cracker crust.  Reseller update: Sewing patterns continue to be solid sellers. The best part of any blog challenge are the people, the comments, the images they've posted, the moments we have shared in this blink of time.  Many thanks to the hosts of this event. OUTTAKES My first picture on self-timer for the topic of hair.  Guess I could have used it as my impression of a broken dolly. A gratitious picture of my CAT. October has been my month of travel.  I did have a little snafu at the Sacramento airport ~ seems I packed a bit too much! This lovely is a painting on the side of the outside kiosk at House of Blues in Downtown Disney.
