Hog Wire It Is and the Lined Drapes

Leading off with ladies in pink - just because. The theme in my vegetable garden will be highlights of yellow. There is a yellow fish kite hanging from an old fishing pole in in the vegetable/peppers fabric planter. The yellow flag sign Welcome Sunshine with sunflowers was placed in front of a tree stump.

Progress as of May 1, 2026 in clearing the land for a garden. Weeds are covered so it will weaken them. I am not using any weed killer just digging up and pulling the weeds by hand. I don't want any poisons near food plants.

The ladders covered in deer netting are temporary. I have come to the conclusion that I will have to circle the garden plantings in hog wire. So far the deer have left the tomatos alone. I may have to use the netting around the wire because SQUIRRELS.

The BEFORE image February 2026. The debris pile is still there and hope to be included in a dump run this month.

Having obtained a burn permit, I was able to have 3 burn sessions before the cutoff at the end of April.

On the dance fitness front, there is no fear I won't be busy. I have THREE tap dance classes M/TU/WED, then beginning Country Western line dancing every other Thursday. I just had to adjust my schedule for evening classes. Nighttime is the only time they are offered.

The Monday tap dance class is to bring me up to speed on routines with the Wednesday class. The Wednesday group of ladies have many years of experience. There might be some tap performances in public in our future.👯

Ending the post with a thrift shop find of lined drapes. Sometimes one might find one panel of drapery at thrift. When you find 2 lined panels for $7.99 each in great shape, it is a good day. The drapes that now hang in my room were a thrift shop find about 10 years ago. Putting in the new find for dry cleaning and shopping for the drapery rod. I will check for that at thrift too and all I will need is the hardware to install the rod.

Grounded for now to pay off my Anaheim adventure and to undergo an outpatient medical procedure. Ruling out arts and craft projects involving detailed handwork. Pivoting to grandbaby sitting on Tami Tuesdays. I thought I would miss selling on eBay, but I don't. I only miss the $$$$ that came my way, not the work that went with it.

Getting a passport is next on my To-Do list. Hoping to have a short trip scheduled in late June.

Done with Disneyland and Point Me to Where the Fun is At

The only way to DO Disneyland is to shell out bucketloads of money. It is not the Disneyland of my youth. I purchased the 3-day California resident pass. There was no dedicated shuttle from my hotel to the main gate so I walked the 20 minute walk one way into the park.

I arrived inside the main park at 11:00 a.m. THAT is precisely when they open the main park up to those who had been at the Adventure park. Elbow to elbow I made my way over to New Orleans square so I could have a Monte Cristo sandwich for lunch.

I did not buy any extra passes or Magic Keys. The Haunted Mansion had a relatively short wait of 40 minutes. That ride broke down twice while I was on it. You could feel it grinding around.

That was the extent of my Disneyland day. One would think with the higher ticket prices there would be a limit to attendees. Nope. People just keep pouring in and not just a few people, a lot of people!

My return from Anaheim meant a continued focus on my vegetable garden. Because of some recent rains, I was able to pull a few more stubborn weeds in the garden area.

On the cosplay Final Fantasy front, I had a partial costume prepared but misplaced pieces of it in my move. Seems I will have a few years to perfect that cosplay if I get to attend the festival again.

I am on the hunt for other fun conventions and get togethers. Planning a trip for this fall - destination unknown.

YOLO and the Purging of the eBay Product

You Only Live Once. My focus has swiveled to less at-home projects and more travel experiences. Exploration Over Accumulation. I am kicking around the idea of traveling somewhere special this summer within the U.S.

The upcoming 2026 California State Fair theme is Wish You Were Here. The Crafts Special Contest entries should reflect anything related to postcards such as places traveled, different cultures, and iconic landmarks.

As promised, I ran this prompt through an AI generator *art postcards travel culture landmarks* I didn't receive any inspired images just pictures of postcards.

I am considering entering the Dollhouse Quilt I showcased in December. Division 192 Class 1 is the one person small art quilt category. Interestingly, the notes for that division state "Art quilts must be an original design, meant to be used as a work of art, and made entirely by the entrant and cannot include any element created or significantly altered using Artificial Intelligence (AI)."

On a different topic - eBay. My selling account was officially closed at the end of January. I am making daily donation trips to hospice thrift. Of the 2,000+ items I had listed these were the few that I pulled for myself. All of the Folkwear Patterns ranging in date from 1978, 1986, and 2000.

Crazy Quilt Ornament kit. A perfect small project for the 2026 holiday. 1986 Dimensions Crazy Quilt Ornaments 9052.

This chicken needlepoint I have pulled and listed more than once. 1986 Sunset View from the Barn 6419. Forever mine now.

Yarn is next to go. Searching the storage unit for a Pacifica Pattern. I may have already donated it to hospice thrift.😒

Travel and continuing on with the chill

The Writing Prompt is "Travel."  Having started a new job a year ago, I haven't had much opportunity to travel.  I do have my bucket list of locations I would like to visit and they are:

1.  Cuba.  Now that the "chill" is ending with that country, it appears as though I may be able to visit.

2.  Chile.  From what I have read, the climate in Chile is similar to Northern California ... and they have salmon, one of my fav foods.

3.  New Orleans.  I have always wanted to visit New Orleans, Louisiana, NOT during Mardi Gras but off season.

4.  Puerto Rico.  One advantage to this location is it is a territory of the U.S.

5.  Hawaii.  I would at least like to say I visited one of the islands.  I hear Kauai is the one to see.

What travel places are on your bucket list?
