1974 BHG Christmas-time Cook Book

This angel came to me in the box for the red Christmas tree (featured in Candy Cane Lane post). 

And the grouping of my thrift shop angels.  

Recipe is from Jingle Bells and Pastry Shells (1968). 

ANGEL COOKIES

1/4 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar

1 8-oz. pitted chopped dates

1 cup walnuts
1 cup Rice Krispies
1 tsp. vanilla

   Confectioners' sugar

Heat butter and sugar in a heavy saucepan and add dates, stirring until dates are melted. Remove from heat and cool slightly. Add walnuts, cereal, and vanilla. Form into small balls. Roll in Confectioners' sugar and store in covered container until use. Makes approx. 36 unbaked cookies.
