A to Z challenge H letter day opens with the phrase "What was once is now a habit." My newest activity I hope to make a habit is Horseback Riding.
What has been a HOOT into retirement is returning to my childhood interests. When I was a pre-teen, I was Horse Crazy! 🐎
There was a stable within walking distance near my childhood home. At church camp, I could be found at the stables rather than sitting through a sermon.
As a middle class family, we did not have the money for a horse. Life went on and I was horseless throughout my adult life. Until NOW. Course the Mr. has thought I've rounded the bend with this newest proposal. I just want to go horseback riding. I don't want to have a horse on the property. I have no idea how to care for a horse.
We will see if what was once will now become a habit.

A to Z Challenge letter "I" reflects on a new identity.
I discovered a few years back my backside isn't suitable for horseback riding any more! I never had much padding, but now there is basically nothing there.
ReplyDeleteMy day camps in summer were horse care, and my sleepaway camps were the one that had riding. There was a barn in my neighborhood too, and a few friends leased horses there, and I thought the price was reasonable, but my parents didn't agree.
(You didn't happen to grow up in a S.F. suburb did you!?)
But if I had learn to ride horses when I was young, I might have fell in love with it but as an adult, I'm afraid I'll fall and break something but I suppose if you do something enough, it really could be a habit and the fear would also go away, I think.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day.
I just recently commented on someone's blog that horseback riding, or at least one ride, would be something I'd like to do. I was horse crazy and we couldn't afford a horse when I was a child. When I got married, I asked my husband if we could get a horse...we ended up with 10. I haven't ridden in years, but I think I'd like to try again. Not sure if I have the strength to get on.
ReplyDeleteI also plan on taking up horseback riding when I retire. I was never horse crazy, but I always liked the idea of long travels on horseback. I migth just do it.
ReplyDeleteGood luck onwards with horses and A-Z alike.
