Craftivism and the Angry Crafters

Back in the days of yore (my 1960s childhood), crafting meant creating something to be worn or displayed like macrame, needlepoint or hooked rugs. Now there is craftivism - even a manifesto.

Crafting was originally intended to be relaxing (unless you are ripping stitches or unraveling yarn because of mistakes). When did crafters get so angry? There are b****y stitchers, badass quilters, and on FB "I craft because punching people is frowned upon."



I also found an article on the Profanity Embroidery Group that explains these angry crafters have found a positive outlet for their negative energy sweary-stitching-group-helping-women-loss-loneliness-rage.
