Muu Muus and the Moulin Rouge

This Butterick pattern is undated but I am guessing it a late 1950s, early 1960s Misses Muu Muu.

Moulin Rouge, October 1954, image from my rescued slide series.

Perusing the listings on shopgoodwill.com is one of my favorite past times.  I am attracted to the dolls, especially the gorked ones. Time has not stood them well. Here are some recent shopgoodwill.com inmates:

Lounging around then and now

"L" prompt for the day means lounging around.  Perfect for Patterns of the Day.

 1970 Simplicity 8860

1977 Simplicity 8228

1990 Simplicity 9943

Two from the late 1960s.

1969 Simplicity 8551.  I especially like the Leopard Lady.

1968 Simplicity 7910

This image is from one of my rescued slides series.  This one labeled "Minnesota, Gerry's Birthday, 1960."

This might be what Eva Mendes has in mind, to be fully dressed when lounging, because you know, sweatpants cause divorce.

Who really wears pajamas?  Maybe if you live in a group setting, or attending a sleepover, but most of my friends talk about sleeping in shorts and a t-shirt.  And you, what is your loungewear?

Konisberger Klops and King for a Day

Whodathunk that Konisberger Klops were meatballs?

Wilton Cake

Last year I presented Queen-for-day as my letter "Q" post.

I finally kerplunked my flower seeds into the garden.  Come summer I should have bouquets to showcase.

Just Because and Jim Denny's

Just because is where I throw in a fashion linkup, this time with another AtoZ participant, Anne at Spy Girl.  She posts weekly 52 pick-me-up prompts that challenge and inspire her followers to put together unique ensembles.  This week's prompt is PATTERN MAX and I have combined a Silk Accents coat-length jacket, a Rampage print blouse and a Jones New York floral print skirt (all thrifted).

Pattern Max Prompt means a Pattern of the Day from 1970.

This and two other patterns were thrift shop finds at Thrift Town.

If I am going to label myself as a local Sacramento blogger, then I must make mention of a Sacramento food institution, Jim Denny's.  It is a hole in the wall type of place known for its burgers and fries and oh so much activity and comfort food. I overheard one patron say he had lived in Sacramento for many years, had heard about the place, was the first time he visited and he would be returning soon.

International Fake Journal Month

International Fake Journal Month (IFJM) is also in April. There is a blog dedicated to the event officialinternationalfakejournalblog.  While the concept intrigues me, I couldn't wrap my brain around doing all of my AtoZ posts as fake journals but I will fake journal for this day's post.

Plans are set now for the trip to Italian Riviera for the summer, so good to return after too long of a time away. Three glorious months of painting plein air, wine tasting and speaking fractured Italian. Day excursions are planned throughout the region. A trip of a lifetime!

Happiness and Holly Hobbie

I am not sure what it is about Holly Hobbie, but it makes me happy.

Too bad this song got so much radio play, it is one that will put a smile on your face.

Gardening and Grape Floats

I admit Gardening and Grape Floats have nothing to do with each other, this image from the BGH Junior Cook Book just had to be shared.

Grape fizz - I don't remember this drink being popular, maybe in your neck of the woods?

Recipe from a 1969 publication

On the gardening front, I have already planted my tomato and pepper plants. The rhubarb and artichoke are thriving. Wish I had more gardening images to share, my garden is in full swing in late summer.

There is, of course, the Orchid of the Day.
