Final Fantasy Festival Day 1

Admittedly, I know next to nothing about the Final Fantasy game and its 30+ million audience. I do know I had fun at Day 1 of the Final Fantasy XIV convention in Anaheim, California. Leading off with one of my favorite images, a group most likely on a video call.

My interest was in the cosplay or costuming for the event. There was a cosplay parade which, from our seats, was viewed only through the monitors.

There were many more in costume that didn't participate in the parade. These two gave me my first stickers. Cute cutouts of FF and personalized characters.  I especially like the pink and black outfit.

I brought my Golden Girl Grandfluencer best for cosplay. Since I am a sewist, I could whip up some pretty neat stuff for these types of events. I really didn't know what to expect so I kind of winged it.

A few more images of others dressed in costume.

Amazingly, I slept sitting up through the Japanese translated demonstration of all of the game upgrades. There was lots of ooooos and aaahhhhhs over new game evolutions. After a 20 minute walk back to the hotel from Disneyland earlier, I was exhausted.

Ending this post with some long perspective shots of the convention area.

Female Sefiroth Cosplay Part 2

Now that the cosplay-jacket is completed, fabric has been cut for the Final Fantasy female Sefiroth outfit, Simplicity 8074 (2016). The knit lavendar fabric found at thrift will act as the skirt. This was the first fabric pull from my stash.

The skirt portion presents a problem. I rarely work with knits. I may have to line the skirt and then hand quilt it. Doing some YouTube research to figure this out.

The bodice was cut in the black floral print. The remaining portions were cut in the solid black fabric

The only hold-up is awaiting the arrival of more interfacing and some tailor's chalk I ordered online.

It took an afternoon to press the pattern and the materials, and cut the fabric pattern. Because I have been using a lot of black fabric lately as lining for both the jacket and gift bags, I had to piece the belt portion

Sewing goal: To use up my existing stash of fabric, and there is a LOT OF IT. Pretty sure I have entered SABLE territory (stash accumulation beyond life expectancy).

Until next time,
Tami
