Cardboard Cutouts and a Brownie Recipe

Countdown to Christmas this Day 14 features cardboard cutouts I adopted from an estate sale.

This set were freebies outside of a thrift shop.

It should come as no surprise that I keep adding to my Christmas Tree Pin Forest. This is a recent purchase from Goodwill.

It also ushers in Day of the Trees on the 15th.

1967 Bing & Grondahl plate of the Day.

What I am listening to - Mantovani Great Songs of Christmas.

Recipe of the day is from The Ford Times Cookbook (1968), something sweet and simple.

BROWNIES
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
2/3 cup cooking oil
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 squares baking chocolate, melted
1/2 cup nuts, chopped
1 tsp. vanilla

Beat eggs, add sugar, then oil. Sift in flour mixed with salt and baking powder. Add melted chocolate, vanilla, and nuts. Bake in greased 8" square pan for 20 minutes in 350 degree oven.

Cookie Jars and Cardboard Hangups

Countdown to Christmas Day 12 is about Cookie Jars and Cardboard hang-ups.

I have never posted about cookie jars so it is about time! This fireplace beauty was just waiting for its new owner at hospice thrift.
I know cookie jars can be good sellers on the auction boards but when I do pick them up, I never let them go. I have three of them, all listed in 1991 The Collector's Encyclopedia of Cookie Jars. Here were two newspaper articles from 1993 and 1994 that came with the book.

Here is a whole slew of cookie jars to look for shopping thrift.
