Day of the Trees

Leading off day 15 in the Countdown to Christmas with an eBay listed sewing pattern.

Following with an abundance of Christmas tree images.

Our tree decorated with thrifted Hallmark Keepsake ornaments. I changed from a 3' tabletop tree to a 5' one so I could display all of my ornaments.

The image below is from 1922.

Recipe of the Day is from The Ford Times Cookbook (1968).

TAK BOK KUM (Korean Stye Chicken)

2 broiler chickens cut into sections
1 cup soy sauce
1 cup dry sherry
1 tbsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. ginger power
2 tsp. MSG
1 cup green onions, chopped
2 tbsp. sesame oil

Combine all ingredients and marinate chicken for at least 4 hours. Broil skin side down, then turn. Cook until not quite done. Dip in sauce and return to broiler skin side up. Cook 5-6 inches below broiler until done. Chicken meat will be very moist with a nicely browned skin. Serves 4.
