Blogaholic Fall Fun Blog Hop and Shop Secondhand First

Linking with ~

Thrift Shop Black Friday was all out country kitsch from Interfaith's Great Finds in Sutter Creek, California.  Everything was half off - foldable white wicker chair with floral print seat ($7.50), the Rockies Western collared shirt with square purple gemstone snaps ($1.50) and sheriff straw hat with blue border (75 cents).

I opted for small business Saturday and visited Main Street in Placerville where stagecoach rides took place.

Present to myself was this framed 1940s Turner print from Placerville Antiques marked down from $28 to $8.

So when you are out Christmas shopping, do you buy presents for yourself?

Don't forget to link up, visit, comment on my Countdown to Kitschmas beginning December 1st.

Finally, this one is a no-brainer for me - I'm in!

Hopping with Nutmeg Place

Faith Hope and Charity Shopping

Got a ta-dah! Moment?

AND

Kathe With An "E" for ~

Say what?  Bingo and Marlboros, that is all a girl needs ... oh, and hairspray.

Here's the outfit du jour ~
Jones New York jacket
St. John's Bay sleeveless collared black shirt
Rena Rowan for Saville gray paisley skirt
Outfit thrifted
Aerosoles gray shoes (retail)

Xena (WARRIOR PRINCESS) was sprung from her cage this morning.  She was adopted at the Amador County Animal Shelter on Saturday.  The shelter was overburdened and offered kittens and cats for $20 which included the adoption fee, shots, spay/neuter and a follow up vet visit.

The first thing she did was head for the nearest tree.

After a couple of minutes of that, she decided it was ok to do some exploring,

And make friendly with the other kitty.

Sharing the fall mums in full bloom.

What gonna love its do you have to share?

Sacramento Sherif'fs Toy Project and Pink Saturday

'The Sheriff's Toy Project, an innovative collaboration between peace officers, non-profit agencies, private donors and businesses, was created to better serve less fortunate children and families. The program provides a character building environment for offenders, who work with law enforcement officers to help people who are in times of need or suffering from hardship. The Toy Project provides a connection between law enforcement, people in need and those in the community capable of giving.

We encourage you to visit our facility for an unforgettable "feel good" experience. You can take a virtual tour right now Welcome Video, or for an appointment to visit in person, please call our office at (916) 361-4571."

I noticed a donation bin at the Golden One Credit Union - there are numerous other bin Toy Project Barrel Locations

I think this falls under Beverly's theme of "We Gather Together"  How Sweet the Sound for PINK SATURDAY, PS 11-17.

What girl wouldn't love to dress up this green dinosaur?

Even big girls like to play dress up!

Collection of pinkees ~

Jean Shrimpton for Yardley lipstick, 1960s.

Just Jaeckin, 1968.

Balenciaga for L'Officiel, 1959

Happy Pinkness fellow hoppers!

It is a rainy stormy day here in Northern California.  Since I lost Madalin (my grey and white cat), I am heading over to the "Cat Sale" sponsored by A-Pal Humane Society in Jackson.  The shelter is overstocked and are offering cats for $20 - current on shots, spay/neutered and microchipped!

Oh, How I Miss You Blogfest and Friday's Frock

Linking to StrangePegs for the ~

Oh, How I Miss You
November 16, 2012
Hosted by Alex Cavanaugh, Matthew McNish, and Andrew Leon

The bloggers we really miss...
and the ones we would really miss!

Do you have a couple of blogger buddies that aren't posting as often? Those who've pulled back and seem absent from the blogging world? Do you have blogger buddies you're grateful are still around but would miss if they vanished? Now is your chance to show your appreciation and spotlight them!

On November 16, list one to three bloggers you really miss and one to three bloggers you would miss if they stopped blogging, then go leave a comment on those blogs letting them know.

Our blogger friends are special; it's time to let them know!

I know one right off the get-go I would love to see her post again is -

Scarlett Loves Elvis her last post is from May 2012.  Such a cute blog header and background - she has over 300 followers.  Where are you Scarlett?

Rather than list all of my favorites (I have over 100 I subscribe to on Google Reader) I do list my top 10 favorites on my blogadicious blogroll (scrolling down is all that is required).

This is one of my favorites thrift shop find skirts, it is Heart Soul brand, along with a Charter Club teal cashmere sweater and a Dress Barn brown mock turtleneck sleeveless knit top.

I follow numerous fashion blogs.  Many times the blogger has a great outfit but a HORRIBLE background, like their bathroom or laundry room or front entry.  Puhleeze fashion blogger - if you have gone to the trouble to make yourself look fantastico, choose an interesting background.

For example, Melanie from Bag and a Beret chooses industrial or graffiti saturated backgrounds.

Another favorite of mine, Helga Von Trollop

Two bloggers that aren't afraid of color and know how to utilize a background ~

Have I said how much I LOVE Thrift Town?  In their behind-the-counter section I spotted this ~ an electric hedge trimmer for $9.99!  Mr. VZ claims I lost his other "tool."

Even better was the TT spend $15, get $5 off Facebook coupon, so my freebies were the two CDs (Andrea Bocelli - you know I am in love with him) and Highlights from Phantom of the Opera (yeah, I know I've come to the party a little late, but who cares?) and,

A Jones New York paisley print silk skirt - SQUEEE! (as Helga would say).

Rednesday and I'm a Leibster!

Thanking Vintage Boomer for this prestigious award!
(Don't ask me what it means - I just do what I'm told, sorta ...)

-Each blogger should post 11 facts random facts about themselves.
-Answer the questions the tagger has set for you, then create 11 new questions for the bloggers you pass the award on to.
-Choose 11 bloggers (less than 200 followers) to pass the award to and link them to your post.
-Go to their page and tell them about the award.
-No tag backs!

Random Facts About Me (I could only come up with five ~)

1.  I was monkey-bar champion in grade school.
2.  My knees make popping sounds when I walk.
3.  I am Adult ADHD, OCD, PKC and MME (so what if I made up the last two ...)
4.  I have never mastered the art of making meatloaf.
5.  One of my fav sayings:

1.  Your favorite social network?

I terrorize other members of CafeMom.

2.   Do you have a facebook page?

I have a personal one (for long-time friends and relatives) and the page linked to my blog.

3.   How long have you been blogging?

I ran an obscure blog before this one - so approx. 4 years.

4.   What do you like best about blogging?

Participating in hops and challenges AND meeting other bloggers (all sizes, shapes and persuasions)

5.   What do you hope to achieve in your blog?

It is a forum for fun and frivolity.

6.   Would you ever consider being a guest blogger?

I would consider it but I get distracted easily (forgive me if I forget when and where I am supposed to be guesting ...)

7.   Will you have a turkey for Thanksgiving or what?

Yes, a turkey and a what.

8.   Any pets? How many and what kind?

A German wirehaired pointer named Zipper, a cat named Tig and a Siamese fighting fish named Sashimi.  This makes me sad - my gray cat Madalin recently went missing and we suspect she was snagged by one of the numerous predators where we live (fox, raccoon, mountain lion).

MKay, same questions to my Leibster Award nominee, it is not easy finding a blogger with less than 200 followers but this gal made the cut (just barely).

And on to REDNESDAY with Sue Loves Cherries

Happy Hump Day!

I have hit the magical number of 150+ on GFC followers!  wooohooo, yay *shakes pom poms*  Greetings to those of you following me on reader or otherwise.

I do have my "moi" section for those interested in learning a bit more about me.  I have been practicing a new skill.  I think it is going to be a new Olympic event ...

I don't mention much about my professional life, all that business is for LinkedIn and such.  What do you think of my professional profile headshot?  It was the best I could do on short notice.

The premise of my blog is about thrift shopping but it is a platform for so much more.  I thoroughly enjoy blog hops and challenges.  Other than sharing my thrift shop finds, I try to post content that makes me smile or giggle.
